Wednesdays, August 5 - September 9
6:30 - 7:30 pm (except on September 2, 5:45 - 6:45 pm)
Join Rabbi Callie Schulman for a six-week seminar exploring the Jewish spiritual path of the Mussar tradition and how it can help us deepen our experience of the High Holy Days.
Our tradition teaches that one must utilize the weeks leading up to the High Holy Days to engage deeply in Heshbon HaNefesh – soul accounting, so that when we reach the Days of Awe we are ready to do the work of teshuva, of repentance and turning. The Mussar tradition offers us a powerful guide through this process: “… most accurately described as a way of life, [Mussar] shines light on the causes of suffering and shows us how to realize our highest spiritual potential, including an everyday experience infused with happiness, trust and love.” (Alan Morinis, founder of The Mussar Institute). (No prior knowledge required; purchase of the book Everyday Holiness, by Alan Morinis is strongly encouraged).
