This is the third in a series focusing on social justice issues in partnership with Reform CA (a project of the Religious Action Center). Discover how we can tie political engagement and activism with our core Jewish values, as our rabbis all so eloquently challenged us to do in their High Holy Day sermons.
We remember each year at Passover, "We, too were strangers in the land of Egypt." For our third Evening of Justice program this year we will strengthen our voice on the Jewish obligation to protect immigrants.
We will be joined by:
Jane Slater, a Sequoia High School Teacher and the founder and faculty advisor to the Sequoia Dream Club, a club dedicated to providing educational opportunities to undocumented and immigrant students. She will be joined by at least two of her students who will share their powerful stories.
Lorena Melgarejo, Executive Director of Faith in Action, will share her story as well as opportunities for direct action.
Rabbi Julie Saxe-Taller, the new Senior California Organizer for the Religious Action Center.
