SMRTY—The San Mateo Reform Temple Youth (SMRTY) is our high school youth group for grades 9-12. Affiliated with the North American Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY), this youth led organization keeps a very busy calendar.

Along with the 5 regional/national NFTY events, the 9 member youth board plans many local and community events. A few of our more outstanding events this year include the youth written and led Yom Kippur afternoon service, Central Park picnic and scavenger hunt, Chanukah Party, and trip with 8 SMRTY'ites to attend the National NFTY Convention in Los Angeles.

SMRTY Shorts—This youth group, especially geared for 7th and 8th grade, is also affiliated with NFTY. This year, PTBE will host the regional NFTY event for 7th and 8th graders living in the immediate area. Called "Hatikvah", the theme chosen for this April 16-17 event is: "If not now, when? Keeping 7th and 8th graders engaged in Jewish Life". 8th graders will also have a chance to participate in SMRTY elections in April and attend their first conclave at Camp Newman in May.

Jewish Stars—(grades 5 and 6) and Twinkling Lights (grades 3 and 4) offer events throughout the school year. Some of our favorites include bowling, ice skating, mini-golfing, pizza parties, game days and temple sleepovers.

All of our events are open to our temple members, and guests are welcomed with advanced permission from the Youth Group Advisors. Calendars are mailed regularly, and we would love to have you on our list. For more information, please call the temple at (650) 341-7701, or e-mail us at .
