Teen Leadership Opportunities

Madrichim (9th -12th Grade)

Madrichim assist our teachers in our Judaic and Hebrew studies. They lead by example and model what it means to be a mensch. Madrichim form an invaluable support network and provide extra hands, eyes, and ears for our teachers. They serve our education programs in a myriad of ways: sharing stories with the students, helping out with art projects, assisting in leading lessons, tutoring students in Hebrew, leading electives, and building relationships with the students. Madrichim can choose to receive pay for their work or they can volunteer.

What teens can do as a Madrich (and they can choose more than one option!):

  • Sunday mornings during Rishonim:

    • as a songleader (even if they did not participate in the 8th Grade Songleaders-in-Training program, and even if they do not play guitar)

    • in the classroom with K-5th graders

    • in the office

    • as photographers

    • at the bagel table

    • and more!

  • Sunday mornings during the Hebrew program

  • Wednesday nights during 6th Grade WNP

  • Saturday mornings, monthly, during the Shabbat Family Jam program

Note: Students in the Madrichim program are also encouraged to sign up for either the 9th Grade Niners, 10th Grade Confirmation, or the 11th/12th Grade Tikkun Teen Fellowship Jewish American Story program.

All teens registered for Madrichim should fill out this application, and new Madrichim will meet with Rabbi Janine after they enroll. All Madrichim registrations will be confirmed with student assignments before the school year begins. Registration alone does not guarantee a position. Frequency: 1x/week or 1x/month, plus required professional development & training sessions.

Important Information about Madrichim:

These are employment positions. They require a level of time management and accountability that may be new to some teens, so it’s important to plan ahead before making this type of commitment. Please register your student first through the ShulCloud portal, and then you will receive a link to the application. Teens must apply using the application form after registering. Once your application is submitted an interview will be scheduled. We look forward to working with our new crew of amazing teen leaders!
