Sack Lunches for Samaritan House

On the third Sunday of every month, PTBE’s Sunday Sandwich Hevre (SSH) supplies meals to hundreds of hungry people. For years, we have committed to deliver 350 bagged lunches (plus extra sandwiches) to Samaritan House on those “third Sundays.”  Many months we deliver far more.  Lunches consist of either a cheese/mayo or peanut butter and jelly sandwich, a small fruit, carrots, and cookies.  SSH pre-delivers drinks to Samaritan House.

All are welcome to participate – there is a role for everyone, and no experience is necessary!

Many volunteers enjoy making meals together at Fellowship Hall, where all supplies are provided and we have fun churning out hundreds of meals in about one hour—all taken to Samaritan House by one or two volunteer drivers.  Please note our session schedule below the photos on this page!

Others proudly carry on the “At Home Team” that we began during the pandemic.  At-home meal makers can download a suggested 20 Meal Grocery List here –- but feel free to make 10, 20, 30, 40 or more!  Each household delivers any time 8am-Noon on our designated dates, directly to the back kitchen-entrance at Samaritan House: 4031 Pacific Blvd, San Mateo.

Our neighbors in need pick up every meal within hours.

In addition to all that community mealmaking, our Education Program incorporates lunch-making sessions for every grade—watch your email for dates!

Spend a Sunday morning making bagged meals in solidarity with our PTBE team, whether in Fellowship Hall or from home.  Please reach out to Deena Bertolina (deenabertolina@gmail.com) if you’d like to participate!
